Walter Gasparovic passed away peacefully on February 28, 2017 with his family by his side.
Walter was an honorable man who was so proud of his family, his Catholic faith, and his Croatian heritage. He was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Church, the St. Johns Catholic Club, and the Croatian Catholic Union (CCU) Lodge 75/Croatian Fraternal Union.
Many people from the St. Johns community may remember Walter for his many contributions to the parish; like roasting pigs and lambs for Croatian Day picnics, organizing bowling tournaments for CCU, organizing polka dances to raise money for various projects at the Church such as, remodeling the bathrooms in the auditorium and building a bar in the auditorium for social events; and who can forget him working the ring toss at ice cream social every year for as long as anyone can remember.
He retired from Best Tool where he worked as a mold maker/machinist. After his retirement, he kept busy by helping to run his four grandchildren around and attending their school and sporting events. He loved going to polka dances, KC Sporting soccer games, gardening, and looking after the cows on his farm.
The most important thing to Walter was his family. He is survived by his son John, daughter in law Veronica (Stiglich) Gasparovic, his grandchildren Alison (Gasparovich) Clifford and her husband Jim Clifford, Matt Gasparovich, Ben Gasparovich, and Sam Gasparovich. He is also survived by his siblings Lilly Rendulic, Milan Gasparovic, Draga Tokic, and Millie Squibb as well as several brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews.Services for Walter will begin Monday, March 6, at 5:00 PM at Skradski Funeral Home, 340 N. 6th, KCK. The Rosary will be said at 6:30 PM by Father Peter Jaramillo with services ending at 7:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday March 7, at 10:00 AM at St. John Catholic Church, 708 N. 4th, KCK. Burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
