Dad left us peacefully Sunday afternoon surrounded by his children, their spouses, his niece, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was met by his parents, 3 brothers, and his sister, and wife Lois. He was welcomed into heaven where he was healed and made whole again for eternity. He left us with so much love and many memories that we will always feel his presence with us and we will never be alone. He was a regular, simple man, a strong Christian that always prayed and believed in God. His prayer buddy was my friend Kathy that prayed with him and for him for many years. She was a blessing to him and was his caregiver while I worked and she made his days special. He was raised on Strawberry Hill in KC Ks. He was raised in the Catholic Church, an altar boy that served Mass until he was 17, he was soon after drafted into the US Army during WWII where he fought in the Pacific Theater earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a loving son, a husband that devoted 4 long years to the constant, continuing care of our Mother that struggled and eventually was taken from us from cancer. No one could have been a better caregiver because it's an extremely hard, physically, mentally, an emotional job but he served her well. He loved his children, always willing to help them in all ways that he could. He so loved his grandkids and they him. He was also known as " Gramps " to so many of the kids and younger adults that came in and out of our homes. In his younger days he had a lot of stories to tell both appropriate and otherwise, and my Mom would scold him but everyone else could"couldn't wait to hear what he had to say ! He had 4 brothers that were his best friends, he spent a lot of his younger years palling around with them, traveling, shooting craps, drinking. Yeah, he was just a regular guy ! He held his sister in the highest esteem because for so many years she was the backbone of the family. He will be missed by all of us that are left but never forgotten. I am thankful for all the advice, the care, the concern, and the life lessons he taught us. I learned about moral obligations, ethics, responsibilities, being strong, and doing your best. He will forever be in our hearts, but especially mine. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Josephine - brothers Nick, Mike, and Bill - sister Filomena ( Sis ) - and wife Lois. Survivors include his brother and friend Tom (wife Elaine ) - his children David - Jodie - Paul - Anthony Grandkids Gabriel - Vince - Ben ( Tiara ) - Glen ( Amanda ) - Sarah. Great-grandkids - Monica - Bianca - Rocco - Ivy - David - Ella - Mady - Tony - Gia - Cruz - Tino. Our lives will never be the same. We will always miss you. Until we meet again. Love Always Us
