Thomas J. Tomasic Sr., 85 of Kansas City, Kansas passed away at home on January 31st, 2016 with his family by his side. Visitation will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 708, N. 4th, KCKS on Thursday February 4, from 5-8 PM with Rosary at 7:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be at the church on Friday, February 5 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church or Strawberry Hill Museum. Tom was born in Kansas City, KS to Nicholas and Mary (Bartolac) Tomasic. He is survived by his wife Therese (Keuchel) of 64 years, a son, Thomas J. Tomasic, Jr (Denise) and a daughter, Lauren Raphel. He is also survived by grandchildren, Thomas J. Tomasic, III (Tracy), Ryane Helder and Ian Tomasic (Ashlee) and great-grandchildren, Braydon and Celia Tomasic. He also leaves his brother, Nicholas Tomasic (Karolyn) and many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to Gloria (Peresic) Fields and Jack Law for the care and attention they provided during Toms final illness.
Tom was a Firefighter for the Kansas City Kansas Fire Dept. and retired as a Captain in 1986. During his lifetime he also worked for Rudy-Patrick Seed Company and operated the cafeteria at St. John the Baptist Catholic School. One of Toms biggest achievements was the acquisition of the former St. Johns orphanage and establishment of the Strawberry Hill Museum. He was also chairman of the St. Johns Catholic Club Tamburitzans for many years and was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and its many clubs.
