Rev. Francis E. Stanfield, passed away February 26, 2016 at Villa St. Francis in Olathe, KS on his 88th Birthday. Father Frank was born in Wyandotte County, Kansas City, Kansas. A graduate of Old St. Marys Catholic School and Bishop Ward High School in KCKS., and attended St. Benedicts College in Atchison, KS.
He went to work in 1949 for National Bellas Hess where he was a merchandise buyer until leaving the company in 1970. He worked in Chicago returning to Kansas City working for the Phil Jacobs manufacturing Company.
As a second career, Father Frank reentered the Catholic Seminary of St. Marks in South Union, KY and was ordained a priest in 1980 for the Diocese of Gallup in New Mexico. He was appointed to the Episcopal Curie and became director of Finances in 1981. While serving at the Chancery, he also served as pastor of Good Shepherd Mission in Pinehaven; and in 1986 he was appointed pastor of St. John Vianney Parrish in Gallup where he retired in 1993.
He is survived by nieces and nephews and many friends.
Burial was in the family lots of Mt. Calvary Cemetery, KCKS. There will be a memorial service at St. John Parish in Gallup at a later date.
