Mike was born in the West Bottoms of Kansas City, Kansas, on July 8, 1922 to Mile and Kata (Bozich) Resovich. He was raised in the Strawberry Hill district of KCK. At age 18, Mike signed a pro baseball contract. After two years pitching in the minor leagues, "Leftys" pro career was interrupted by World War II. He served as a rifleman in the U.S. Army in Africa and saw action in Monte Cassino and Anzio, Italy. After the war, with short stints in semi-pro ball, Mike turned his lifes path towards marriage and family. He married Bernice A. Modrcin in 1946, and they shared 65 years together. She preceded him in death on January 2, 2012. Mike retired from the Gas Service Company of KCK after 37 years, and enjoyed bowling and playing golf. He was very active at Holy Family Catholic Church, coaching the grade school baseball and basketball teams and playing on the adult baseball and bowling teams. He sang in the church choir, was a member of the Holy Name Society, and a charter member of the Holy Family Social Club. He was also a member of the St. Johns Senior Citizens. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers: Nick, George, Eli, Steve and Tom. Three sisters: Mildred Stevovich, Sophia Docman and Rose Houghton. He is survived by daughter, Bernadette T. Soptick and husband John, and son, Michael G. Resovich and wife Christine, three grandchildren: Carrie, Thomas and Sarah, and two great grandsons: Tyler and Joshua. The family would like to thank everyone at Brookdale College Square for their kind and compassionate care. Mike was a jokester with a sometimes gruff personality that hid his soft heart.
