Mike Brulja, 88 of Olathe, passed away Saturday, October 26th, 2019 at Olathe Hospice House. Services will be Saturday, November 2 beginning with a visitation at 9:30 to 10:30AM and Prayer Service at 10:30AM at Skradski Funeral Home, 340 N. 6th, KCKS. Inurnment following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, KCKS. Family request no flowers but, please make donations to Olathe Health Charitable Foundation - Hospice House or American Legion Post 153, Olathe Ks Mike was born to Pete and Anna (Shushan) Brulja on March 7, 1931 in Kansas City Kansas. He was a Korean War Veteran serving with the Marines from 1951 to 1954 as a communications lineman and received special training to be able to spot and remove land mines in the field. Mike loved baseball and played semi-pro in his day. Till the day he got sick he could tell you what happened on any sports game the day before and knew who did what in the game. He married Dolores Gunya in 1956 and had two daughters Valerie and Kenna. He loved to fish and took the girls on several fishing excursions. Softball and bowling were his hobbies in his younger years. He worked at BPU for 38 years as a lineman. His wife Dolores became sick with cancer and he took care of her. He met and married his second wife Joan Fales (Locke) in 1980. They moved to Falls City and Humboldt, Nebraska. They were married for 32 years till she passed away in 2011. He loved going to his grand-daughters theatre performances and enjoyed going to Starlight to see them perform. He was very proud of his grandson Alex for his boy scout endeavors growing up and his animation career. He enjoyed going to the casino with his son-in-law George Thomas and eating catfish dinners up in White Cloud. Mike had quite a few dogs in his life but, had a special place in his heart for ChiChi, who passed a couple of years ago. He is survived daughter Valerie Davidson (Jay), grandchildren: Rachel Waters (Gavin), Kaitlyn Davidson and Alex Davidson, son-in-law George Thomas and many nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by parents and siblings: John, Louie, Mary, Joe and Catherine and wife Dolores (Gunya), and daughter Kenna (Thomas) and 2nd wife Joan (Locke) .
