Maryann Munjak

June 7, 1929 — April 20, 2017

Maryann (Lipnicky) Munjak, 87, of Overland Park, Kansas, surrounded by her family, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Villa of St. Francis, Olathe, KS. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 71st and Metcalf, Overland Park, KS followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Villa of St. Francis or Sisters, Servants of Mary.
Maryann was born June 7, 1929 in Kansas City, Kansas to Michael and Anna (Pavelko) Lipnicky. She attended St. Cyril & Methodius grade school and graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1947. She was employed at International Harvester as an administrative assistant for many years. Maryann was a longtime parishioner at Christ the King Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas, before moving to Overland Park becoming a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary. She was actively involved in groups and causes such as Sisters, Servants of Mary Guild, the 8 at 8 Club and the St. Johns senior group.
Maryann loved spending time at the lake with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and gardening. She was blessed with many lifelong friends.
Maryann was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Munjak, parents, sister, Margaret and brothers, Mike and Tommy. She is survived by daughters; Kathleen and Dr. Kenneth Newman, Mary Jo and Eric Martincich and Claudia and Paul Gibson. Nine grandchildren; Brian Newman, Adam Newman and Kristin (Dylan) Rogers; Lisa (Jim) Stuart, Laura (Adam) Jessen and Katherine Martincich; Hannah, Joseph and Thomas Gibson; six great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Good Shepherd Hospice and Villa of St. Francis, for the excellent care they provided for Maryann during her illness.
