Mary Jane (Holmes) Zych, 87, of Kansas City, Kansas was called to be with her Lord on June 21, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at home. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on June 28, 2022, with Mass of Christian Burial on June 29, 2022, at 10:00 am at Christ the King Church, Kansas City, Kansas. She will always be remembered as the matriarch of the Zych family, devoted Mother and Grandmother, and loving wife to John. Mary Jane was born in Independence, MO to John and Eunice Holmes. She graduated from Glennon High School.
She is preceded in death by her siblings, Bernard Holmes, Marty Rooney, Herbie, Danny and Tommy Holmes. Mary Jane met her husband of 65 years and built a loving and faithful Catholic family nurturing all nine of their children in the faith and with a Catholic education, always putting the children first. Her dedication to her faith and all her sacrifices made her coveted by her family and all who knew her. Mary Jane was the ultimate homemaker keeping the Zych household running. She worked for the Gas company before starting her family. Always home cooking meals or baking her famous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and at Christmastime turning the kitchen into a true cookie factory. In devoted fashion Mary Jane could be found at Christ the King Church and school assisting when needed.
"When a job is first begun, never leave it until its done, be the labor great or small, do it well or not at all" was her mantra.
