Mary Catherine Hurley

Mary Catherine Hurley, age 96, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Monday, August 20, 2018, at home surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, Friday, with the Mass of Christian Burial following at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3027 North 54th Kansas City, KS. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, KS. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Christ the King Catholic Church.
Mary was born December 9, 1921 to Pete and Josephine (Russ) Stampfel in Kansas City, KS. After Joe passed in 1966, she became both Mother and Father to her three children along with working for S.S. Kresge. Mary was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Its Go Getter Club and made sure everyone was prayed for by taking care of the Prayer Chain for the Parish. She was the ultimate caretaker! If she wasnt taking care of you in person she was praying for you!
She is survived by her two daughters; Mary Jo (Jim) Krause of Melbourne Beach, FL and Helen Caples of Bonner Springs, KS; six grandchildren; David, Lisa, DeDe, Tina, Annie and Donna, seven great-grandchildren; Maddison, Julia, Owen, O'Dell, Annabella, Briele and Bailey. Preceding her are her parents, husband Joe Hurley, son Danny, brothers; Joe and Albert Stampfel and sister, Helen Chumley.
