Mary Ann Krizmanich, 99 of Kansas City, Kansas passed away Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Villa St. Francis in Olathe, KS. Funeral Services for Mary will be Friday, February 7, beginning with Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3027 N. 54th, Kansas City, KS. Entombment following at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, Kansas City, KS. Mary Krizmanich, and her family are some of the original members of Christ the King parish. Mary will always be remembered for her independence and convictions. She loved her family and was fiercely loyal to them. She took care of all of them at some point in time from her niece and two nephews which she would baby sit for to taking care of her sisters, Anne and Helen and brothers Michael , Joseph and John at their time of death. Mary worked with her sister Helen on the B25 bomber instrument panels at the Fairfax plant during WWII. She was a bookkeeper at several places including the 18th Street Medical Building. Mary was especially fond of her working days at Wolfe Brothers in KCMO. Mary and her sister Anne would coordinate with other sister Helen to bring her kids "downtown" on the bus for Christmas shopping. The yearly event was always highly anticipated by all. At one point in the 70s Mary owned a motel in Olathe, Kansas. Maybe inspired by her interest in travel. Mary enjoyed camping. She traveled with family across much of the western US by car and tent eventually upgrading to a Scottie trailer with lots of "modern comforts". Mary also enjoyed travelling to Europe mostly with her brother Mike and sister Anne by ship at first. Thats when she found out she suffered from seasickness so afterward always travelled by plane. Mostly she visited her relatives in Croatia for weeks at a time. Mary and her family always kept the relatives in Croatia in her thoughts demonstrated by the many letters that we have found. Mary and her family always gathered packages and money to send to the Krizmanichs and other relatives in Croatia. Marys other interest was keeping a well run and welcoming house always offering a refreshment, meal or a room to stay in if needed. Mary enjoyed her sisters farm in Warrensburg, MO where she could go back to her gardening side. At the farm she pitched right in with stacking firewood for winter, gathered eggs and other chores. She looked right in place while driving the truck with a trailer during hay bailing time. Marys family first lived on Strawberry Hill then moved to 20th and Quindaro. There they had grape vines, orchard, cow and chickens which helped them survive the Great Depression. In the 1940s the family bought some land on 73rd Place in KCK where they had a vineyard, large garden, orchard and chickens. Later the land was developed with a road and houses called the "Krizmanich Estates". Memorable good times were large gatherings at the Krizmanich house with plenty of Bar-B-Q and polkas played by friends and family which Mary enjoyed. Visiting Mary will be greatly missed. When she got to heaven we pray she heard "Welcome home my good and faithful servant." Mary is preceded in death by her parents; Michael and Antonia (Panijan) Krizmanich, her brothers and sisters: Michael F., Joseph, John, Anne, and Helen.
