Loretta J. Scott 83 of Kansas City, Kansas passed away peacefully at The University of Kansas Medical Center on October 4, 2022. Loretta was a mother of Four and had a beautiful soul, she is dearly missed by many friends and family. Loretta was born on August 16, 1939 to Martin and Mary (Kovach) Carr in the house next to the Dairy on Strawberry Hill.
Loretta attended Bishop Ward High School, then went on to become a hairdresser. She helped several, family ran restaurants and catering services for many years. Loretta was an excellent cook, her apple strudel and povitica bread were second to none. The list can go on and on with her culinary skills. Best cook and Mom ever!!!
Loretta joined The Loyal Order of Moose in 1993, becoming a member of Women of the Moose Chapter 1562 and Lodge 1999 when the two organizations combined in 2020. If one was to go to the Lodge over the span of the last 30 years, they were likely to have enjoyed many of her culinary delights. She was affectionately referred to as Mama Moose by her friends at the lodge. Mama Moose loved to give back to the community by volunteering at the many charity events held at the Lodge.
Loretta enjoyed retirement with her Husband Bob as they traveled all over the country. The two were one of the most welcoming couples in the Moose Fraternity and became fast friends with almost every new person that entered our Moose Lodge. Mama Moose always looked forward to hanging out with friends and may have been known to attend a party or three. Mama loved life and her spirit carries on with her children and the many, many, lives she touched.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Mary Carr, her sister Bernie Farley and husband Bob Scott. Surviving her are four children: Robert A. Scott (Dawn), Richard A. Scott, Amy L. Scott and David A. Scott (Kristina). Five Grandchildren and One Greatgrandchild along with a Niece and Nephew.
