Lawrence 'Doc' Joseph Eker

DR. Lawrence J. Eker, 92, passed away surrounded by family on August 14th 2018. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, August 18th at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 274 Orchard St., KC, KS, 66101. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, August 17th, from 5 8 PM at Holy Family Church with the Rosary at 7:30 PM."Doc" was born June 12, 1926 in KC, KS to John and Christina Eker, who were also born in KC, KS. Doc was a life-long resident of Wyandotte County and long-time member of Holy Family Church. He served his community as a Chiropractor for 62 years, retiring in 2010. He was a member of the Holy Family/Holy Name Society and the Social Club. Doc volunteered in the choir and assisted with special events. Doc was well known for his strong devotion to the Virgin Mary, his Catholic faith, family and friends, his kindness and generosity to those he cared for.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Patricia A. Eker.
He is survived by his children, Lawrence (Sylvia) of Kansas City, Mary (Randy) Ward of Roeland Park, Timothy (Veronica) Eker of Roeland Park, Madonna (Dan) McMenamy of St. John, IN, Elaine (Steve) Colbert of Shawnee; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
