Kay F. Harris, age 80, born and raised in Kansas City, KS, passed away on January 8, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.
Kay was born to George and Madryne (Burgess) Mallon on July 28, 1944. Kay was the oldest of six children. She graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1962. During High School, Kay worked at Peters Drive-In, where she met her lifelong love who shared with her 55 years of marriage. Kay married Michael Harris on October 8, 1962. Kay’s love for her ceramics took her from a small shop in her basement to 40 years of joy, friendships, and laughter. She enjoyed spending time with her family and being ‘Grammy’ to seven grandchildren. Kay LOVED her Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and KU Basketball.
Kay is preceded in death by her husband Michael, her parents, and her brother George Mallon (Willma). She leaves behind her son, Michael E. Jr., and Anastasia (McCann) Harris; her daughter R. Michaelle and Joe Rehm; and her son George Joseph and Angela Keith; along with seven grandchildren: Alex, Ben, Shianne, Luka, Taylor, Isaiah and Hunter; as well as her siblings: Tom Mallon, Diane Gossage, Zita (Alan) Attebury, Steve (Debby) Mallon.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, January 11th from 4:00-6:00pm at Skradski Funeral Home, 340 N. 6th St., KCKS. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
