Joseph Macek, 70, passed away September 17, 2015 in Albuquerque, NM. while visiting friends. Joseph was a graduate of Bishop Ward H.S. Class of 1964. He attended Conception Seminary, Donnelly College and graduated with a B.S. Degree from the University of Albuquerque in 1969, and was a US Army Vietnam Veteran serving in the military from 1969-1971. Joe was a scientist for Bayer Corp. until his retirement in 2005, but never truly retired. He owned a farm and raised pigs, chickens and cows. He was a sausage and cheese maker and The Best Cook in the county. He also owned his own greenhouse business. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Sr. and Mary; siblings, Matthew, John, Daniel and Helen, and his beloved dog, Shiner. Survivors include brothers, Victor Jr.(Lucille), Michael (Janice), Anthony (Linda) of Kansas City area, Frank (Donna) of Odessa, MO, Tom (Mary Alice) of Osawatomie, KS; one sister, Theresa Moody (Larry) of Wellsville, KS and sister-in-law, Jan Macek of Janesville, WI, and numerous nephews and nieces. Joseph never married, but he was always surrounded by friends and neighbors. He will be dearly missed by all. Visitation for Joe will be 5:30 to 7:30 PM Fri., Sept. 25 at Skradski Funeral Home, 340 N.6th St., KC, KS with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held from 9-10 AM in Paola, KS at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 601 E. Chippewa St. Paola, KS 66071-2015 the next day, Sat., Sept. 26th followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM with burial in the Mannen Cemetery.
