Joseph L. Kovich

Joseph L. Kovich, 92 passed away peacefully at his home in Kansas City, Kansas on Friday July 8, 2016. Services for Joe will be Thursday, July 14, 2016, beginning with Visitation at 9:00 am, Rosary 9:45 am, Prayer Service 10:00 am at Skradski Funeral Home, 340 N. 6th, KCK and burial following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Joe was born December 5, 1923 in KCK, son of Joseph and Minnie (Ruby) Kovich. He served in the infantry from 1943-1946, a World War II Army Veteran. He retired in 1988 from KC Structural Steel Co. Joseph was steadfast in his love of books and reading. Always encouraging grandchildren and great grandchildren to pursue higher education. He maintained an intellectual passion for numbers and mathematics. He spent much time caring for his three cats. He is survived by his daughter, Lonnie Krivjansky Chiavola, KC,KS; daughter-in-law Cathy Stone, Sergeant Bluff, IA, five grandchildren; Cindy (David) Hinkle, West Des Moines, IA, Joe (Debbie) Krivjansky, Tonganoxie, KS, Douglas (Lori) Stone, Boise, ID, Steven Stone, San Diego, CA, Robert (Bea) Stone, Bellevue, NE; five great-granddaughters ad seven great-grandsons. Preceded by parents, wife Nellie (Gray) Kovich, son Robert Stone, brother Milo Kovich and sister Carol Labesky. Family expresses its immense gratitude for tireless caregiving of Crossroads Hospice. In lieu of flowers, suggest contributions to Crossroads Hospice, Lenexa, KS.
