Hermann Josef Kump

July 5, 1938 — August 27, 2021

Hermann was born on July 5, 1938, the youngest of 8 children to Matthias and Rosalia Kump in Grodetz-Gottschee (formerly Yugoslavia, present-day Koceveje, Slovenia) In 1956, at the age of 18, Hermann, along with his mother and two of his older brothers immigrated to Kansas City, KS, following other siblings and relatives who immigrated earlier from Gottschee. Hermann completed graduate studies in Merchandising in Villach, Austria, where he also played soccer.
His knowledge and skills were vast beyond merchandising, excelling at home remodeling and landscaping, which he shared his gifts with many friends and relatives. Hermann was a faithful friend to many, always ready to lend a helping hand, sensing others' needs without even being asked. He enjoyed watching sports (the Kansas City Chiefs), playing poker, and sharing a beer with his friends. He was a devoted family man and nothing brought him more joy than seeing his children and grandchildren grow.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings and first wife Lois Kump and beloved niece Frieda Clark.
He is survived by his six children, daughters, Anahi Wolfe, Erika Kump, Deborah Robinson, and sons Hermann Kump jr, Steven Kump and Gregory Kump, grandchildren Luca Khachaturyan-Kump, Clint and Josie Robinson and others, brother Erich Kump, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Apple Orchard Hospice for the very compassionate care given to Hermann over the past several months.
Hermann was genuinely loved and will be missed and remembered dearly.
