George Dean Modrcin died peacefully on September 23, 2024, at the age of 50 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. George was cherished by many and known for his wittiness, charisma, sense of humor, generosity and charm.

George was born in Kansas City, Kansas on July 24, 1974 to George C. and Shirley Modrcin. After George graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1992, he completed his major in business at University of Kansas and MBA at Rockhurst. He was dedicated to helping others in a financial advising role for his entire career. His clients became like family to him. George met his wife Joy when they worked at Emprise Bank in Lawrence, Kansas when both were attending the University of Kansas. They married in Ixtapa, Mexico January 9, 2001. George’s biggest life accomplishment was the birth of his three girls: Taylor, Mia and Hadley. They were his whole world. He was the best girl dad and was devoted to his girls. His girls gave him strength during his rough times and laughter and happiness all the time. George showed his love with his special nicknames for his girls. When George wasn’t being the best girl dad, or taking care of clients, he was a lover of sports, mostly the Royals, but also the Chiefs, Sporting, and Jayhawks were a close second.

George is survived by his wife and three daughters, whose lives were greatly enriched by George’s presence. His departure leaves an unfillable void in their lives, yet they find comfort in the many cherished memories they shared. George is also survived by two sisters Georgette (Steve) Crocker and Christel (David) Shepard and their daughters; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. He had a knack for making friends easily and making all friends feel like his best friend.

Waiting for him at the Door to Heaven was his mother Shirley and father George C. George was also proceeded in death by his grandparents George N. and Katie Modrcin and Vergil and Arvilla “Nadine” Dean.

George wished for a colorful funeral. His favorite flower was a tulip, so we request that if possible, to dress in colors of tulips.
