George Hecke

George William Hecke, 73, of La Cygne, KS passed away May 30, 2024. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Skradski Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at Edwardsville Cemetery at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 6, 2024, in Edwardsville, Kansas.

George was born June 20, 1950, in Kansas City, Kansas to Raymond and Mary Hecke. He was the oldest of 9 children. He grew up in Kansas City and Edwardsville, Kansas graduating from Bonner Springs High School. George worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad and Frye-Wagner during his life. He settled in La Cygne, Kansas where he lived for the past 25+ years.

He enjoyed billiards, fishing, the outdoors, and helping those in need. He was not a rule follower and led life his way.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Hecke and daughter, Leann Moore. Survivors include his daughter, Erika Colacicco; four grandchildren Destiny, Annaliese, Erin, and Dominick; siblings Robert Hecke (Patty), Raymond Hecke Jr., Jean (Richard) Kiblinger, Jane (Gary) Jackson, Susan (Steve) Rezin, Rose Williams, Kathy (Jeff) Roberts, John (LeAnn) Hecke, and 25 nieces and nephews, and more great nieces and nephews.
