George H. Gray Jr. (aka Buster or Bud), 82, passed away July 25, 2023, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.
He was born Dec. 29, 1940, in K.C.,KS to Evelyn (Satterfield) and George H. Gray Sr.
He attended St. James grade school in Kansas City, Mo. He joined the US Air force after graduation from De La Salle High School, then worked at Armco Steel, where he was a metallurgist and production foreman. He was very active in the Independence Jaycees and was a staff member for the late Missouri State Senator Ronnie DePasco.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; son, Ryan and daughter, Melissa; daughter-in-law Bobbi Jo Gray; and grandson Cole Marler. Surviving are son, Kevin; daughter, Kimberly; two sisters, Mary Joan McClain (Harold) and Helen (Skradski) Sambol (Richard) and three granddaughters and five great grandchildren.
A special thank you to Joyce for loving and caring for him and putting up with his orneriness.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10 to 11 am at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd. in Independence, MO. Mass will follow at 11 am, with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Donations in George’s memory may be made to St. Mark’s Church.
