Gabriel Ornelas

Gabriel Ornelas, 87, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 9, at Christ the King church, 3024 N 53rd St., Kansas City, KS. Interment will follow the service at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1150 North 38th St., Kansas City, KS.
Gabriel was born to Isaac and Ysidra Ramirez on March 2, 1930 in Waynoka, Oklahoma. Gabriel was one of 13 children. She was a homemaker much of her life. Gabriel was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel by train with her family, especially to Disneyland.
Gabriel is survived by her sisters Nadine and Maria, brothers Vincent and Lloyd; 10 children, Richard, Dolores, Michael, Daniel, Patricia, Anita, Jesse, Edward, Martin, David and their spouses; 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Catholic Community Hospice of Overland Park, KS, for their endless support and to Sisters Servants of Mary of Kansas City, Kansas for their tireless support. Donations can be made in Gabriels name. We would like to thank Father Rodgers for his spiritual guidance. We would also like to thank all family, friends, and volunteers. From her loving son, Jesse Ornelas, and primary caregiver, I would like to give my deepest appreciation to Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Conejo and Mr & Mrs. Ford for religiously bringing holy communion on Sundays to Gabriel. Also to Mr Russell Etter for making sure Mama made her appointments, and for being one of her closest confidants and friend. A special thank you to Bruno, a volunteer with Catholic Community Hospice, for being there every Monday, as well as the staff of Blessed Trinity.
