Frederick H. McClain, 97 of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Villa St. Francis, Olathe, Kansas. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 3, from 9-10AM with Mass beginning at 10AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, in Kansas City, KS. Burial to follow at Holy Angels Cemetery in Basehor, Ks. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church or Bishop Ward High School
Fred was born in Emmett, Kansas on January 30, 1924 to Fred and Marie (Hurla) McClain. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, where he received many medals and served on the Jack of Diamonds PT190 Boat. Fred belonged to St. Patrick Catholic Church where he was an Usher, Eucharistic Minister, Mother of Perceptual Help Novena Minister and served numerous other roles at the church. He and his late wife Dolores made his Family and Church their life focus. Fred was as energetic as they come, he worked as a Millwright for KC Industrial Construction Company before he retired in 1990. Would offer to fix anything and attended any of his seven children, grandchildren or great grand-childrens functions till he was 94.
Surviving Fred are his children; Patricia Bryan, Catherine Rothwell, Mary (Gary) Somerfeld, Karen (David) France and David (Mary) McClain, Eleven Grandchildren and Eleven Great Grand-Children, siblings; John and Billie Rae, Harold and Joan, Margaret and William Baker, Bob and Virginia and Mike and Dorothy. Preceding him are his wife Dolores, parents, two sons; Anthony and Phillip, siblings; Sr. Mary Joanilla, OSF- (Helen Josephine) and Herman J. and infant sister, Rita Marie, son-in laws; David Rothwell and David Bryan and granddaughter, Roberta Somerfeld.
