Francisco Solis, 85 of Kansas City, KS passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thur., Feb. 16th at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 409 N. 15th, KCKS, with Rosary at 6:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Fri., Feb. 17th at the Cathedral of St. Peter. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven, KCKS.
Francisco was born on October 8, 1931, in Kansas City, KS to Jesus and Hermenejilda (Perez) Solis. He graduated from Argentine High School, Kansas City Junior College and Kansas State Teachers College with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Francisco worked for various government agencies including the U.S. Postal Service and Department of Health Education and Welfare before retiring from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Civil Rights.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; Joseph and Elario and 2 sisters; Katherine and Jessie. He is survived by his wife Esther (Ysusi), sister, Petra Lopez, son, Francisco Solis Jr., daughters; Frances (John) Tady, Felicia Miskec, Cecilia (Kai) Thomas; 9 Grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandsons, many nephews, nieces, and cherished friends.
