Emil J. Stimetz, 97, Passed away on June 19th at Country Care Senior Living in Basehor KS. Emil wasa life long resident of Kansas City Kansas and did so independently well into his 90s. In October 1942he Enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Pacific Theater with the 3rd MarineAmphibious Corp Signal battalion, seeing combat on Vella LaVella, Guam, Okinawa and occupationduty on mainland China until December 1945. He did not speak of his war service to many, unlessveterans themselves, and only then a handful of times since the war. After the war he became a memberof the Stereotypers Union and worked on the printing presses at the Kansas City Star until retirement in1975. He spent the years since enjoying time playing his piano and tinkering about. Emil was mostknown for his signature blue hats, smile, and quiet, kind, warm hearted demeaner.
He is preceeded in death by his parents George and Pauline, his Sisters Emilie, Stephanie, Georgine,Brother Albert, and niece Carole Hackett. Emil is survived by his Nieces and Nephews Allen Dixon; Linda Stankus; Greg and Shari Stimetz; PaulOBoynick Jr; Gary, Jeff, and Paula Rupp; Alana Smarker, Great Grand Nieces and Nephews, andnumerous others whos lives he touched.
Services are Wednesday, June 23rd, beginning with a visitation at 11AM and Mass of Christian Burial at Noon, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 274 Orchard, Kansas City, Kansas. Burial following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, Emil wishes any donations be given to Holy Family Catholic Church.
