Draga (Gasparovic) Tokic, 76 of Kansas City, Kansas passed away peacefully on Sunday May 7th, 2017. Visitation is Thurs., May 11th at 5PM, with Rosary 6:30PM at Skradski Funeral Home, 340 N. 6th, KCK. Mass of Christian Burial will be Fri., May 12th, 10AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 708 N. 4th, KCK. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven, KCK.
Draga was born in Modrus, Croatia and came to the United States when she was 19 years old. Education and pursuing excellence was a passion as she won an award for the top stenographer in her class. After coming to the United States, she continued her education at a business college with an emphasis in accounting. Draga worked in the accounting departments at Capital Truck Line, Graves Truck Line, and the KCK Housing Authority.
Draga was united in marriage to Ivan Tokic at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in 1964 and was a lifelong member. They celebrated 53 wonderful years of marriage. Draga was very involved in her four children's school activities, fundraisers, sporting events, music recitals and Tamburitza concerts. She was an advocate for special needs organizations (Down Syndrome Guild and iCare activities) to support her grandson and was very active in all of her grandchildren's lives. Grandma was at her best when she was with her entire family. Her life was a celebration of faith and family. She enjoyed going to polka dances, YMCA water aerobics, gardening, and her daily walks.
She is preceded in death by her parents (Anton and Anna (Keser) Gasparovic), her siblings; Danica Arbajter, Maria Turkalj and Walter Gasparovic. She is survived by her husband Ivan, 3 Sons; Frank (Mary Cay) Tokic, Stilwell, KS, David (Sherrill) Tokic, OP, KS and Denny Tokic, Shawnee, KS and Daughter Maryann (Mark) Perry, Issaquah, WA. Five Grandsons; Sean, Michael, Nicholas, Matthew and Daniel and granddaughter Megan. Her siblings; Lilly Rendulic, Milan Gasparovic and Millie Squibb, as well as brother and sister in laws, nieces, and nephews both here in the US and abroad.
