DOROTHY TAYLOR MISKEC, 98 of Overland Park, KS, passed away Monday, September 14, 2014. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 17 at St. Joseph Catholic Church; 11311 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS, burial will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas.
Dorothy was born December 19, 1916, in South Dakota to Henry L. and Mayme H. (Boothe) Taylor. After moving to the Kansas City area, she met her husband George C. Miskec and had a daughter, Elaine. Dorothy worked 43 years for the Department of Health and Human Services in downtown Kansas City, MO, as a secretary. She was a Girl Scout leader, enjoyed fashion and exercise. You could see her outside walking each and every day, oftentimes, more than once. This must be the key to a long healthy life.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Phyllis; Helen; Geraldine; Kathaleen Taylor; daughter, G. Elaine (Miskec) Fix and great-grandson, Matthew Fix. Surviving are her grandchildren, Mark (Michele) Fix, Shawnee, KS, Scott Fix, KCMO, Brian Fix, Springfield, MO and Erin (Eric) Bristow, Chiloquin, OR; and eight great-grandchildren: Stephen, Kathryn, Shelby and Holli Fix, Christian, Mackenzie, Kierstyn, and Kylie Bristow.
