Alexia "Peg" Cecelia Elizabeth Milestone, 100, passed away peacefully with family by her side on December 1, 2018 at Sunrise of Lenexa, KS. Alexia was born April 17, 1918 in Pittsburg, KS to her parents Simon and Helen (Krois) Wirnsberger. Alexia received her first communion and confirmation at St. Marys in Pittsburg, KS. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1936, then moved to California to attend college for a business degree. She worked as a medical receptionist where she met the love of her life, Joseph M. Milestone. They were married in Kansas City, KS at St. John The Baptist on September 10, 1938. She took great pride in being a homemaker in California for over 60 years. Together they built and managed apartments and were very active in the Union Pacific Railroad Auxiliary. They enjoyed traveling and dinner parties with friends. Alexia enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting and needle work. She loved gardening, flowers and reading. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Most of all, she loved the life she shared with her husband Joe. In 1998 they returned to the Kansas City area and lived at John Knox Village in Lees Summit, Mo. where she was a member of Our Lady of Presentation Catholic Church. She volunteered often and enjoyed running the cash register at the Thrift store. Alexia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, and her chauffer and nephew, Larry E. Day Sr. She is survived by Nieces and Nephews; Gloria Day, Shawnee, Ks; Mary and John Waliczek, Barbara and Daythel Turley, Patricia and Thomas Waliczek, and John Long all of Kansas City, Ks and Bill and Florence Long of Shawnee, Ks; Great-Nephews and Great-Nieces; Larry and Robbin Day, JR, David and Laura Stratton, John and Judi Waliczek, Jason and Tina Cade, Babsy and Jayson Guengerich, John Michael Krupich, Mary Delac, Thomas Waliczek, Bill and Kelli Long, Jr, Amy and Mike Warczakoski, Brian Long, Elizabeth and Justin Hansen, Tim Long and Families; Great-Great-Nephews and Niece; Tyler Day, Jacob Stratton, Nicole Day and Justin Stratton; Dear Friends and Neighbors Dottie and Bob Mastin, Diamond Bar, California. The family would like to thank all those at Sunrise that cared for Peg. A private service for Alexia will be held at Mt. Calvary in Kansas City, Ks. Alexia was blessed to celebrate 100 years in April 2018, she will be greatly missed.
