Michael Victor Macek, 90, passed away peacefully at his home on August 19th, 2022 in
Roeland Park, Kansas.
Michael and his twin brother Victor were born on February 10, 1932 and grew up on Strawberry
Hill in Kansas City, KS. At the age of 14, Mike and Vic took apart their first car, which led to
promising careers as auto mechanics. Mike graduated from De La Salle Military Academy in
1950.
Michael married Janice Morse on February 14, 1953. They had six sons and one daughter-
Michael, Paul (Cher), David (Julia), Peter (Kathleen), Steve, and Mark (Joy) Macek, and
Elizabeth Weaver. Mike had thirteen grandchildren-Jennifer Fultz, Carla Hall, Ryan Macek,
Kelley Ruckert, Rachel Murchison, Daniel Macek, Stephanie Green, Eric Macek, Kristin Macek,
Aaron Macek, Joshua Weaver, Samantha Weaver, and Logan Macek. Mike had seven great
grandchildren, Kyle hall, Sara Orr, Matthew Macek, Kathryn Murchison, Collin Murchison, Tate
Macek, Arianna Macek, and one great-great grandchild, Maya Hall.
In 1951, Mike and Vic served in the Korean War as cable communication runners. Together the
two brothers opened Mobile Oil in 1959 and Mike later went on to buy Ace Auto in 1968, retiring
in 2002. Ace Auto was a place of adventure for his children and grandchildren. He taught all six
of his sons to work on cars.
Mike had a lifelong devotion to the Catholic Church. His home parish was St Pius X where he
served in the Chapel for many years. Mike went to church on a daily basis and never missed a
chance to pray.
Mike enjoyed fishing, never turned down a piece of povitica, loved Cadillacs, farm life, and his
mom whom he visited every weekend.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother Victor and Mary Macek, brothers Daniel,
Joseph, John, Matthew and Tony Macek, sister Helen, brother in law Larry Moody, and son
Michael Macek.
He is survived by twin brother Victor and brothers Frank and Tom Macek, and sister Theresa
Moody, as well as five of his sons Paul, David, Peter, Steve, and Mark Macek, and his one
daughter, Elizabeth Weaver.
